Activity & Equipment Specialists

South East Queensland & Northern New South Wales

Christian Youth Camps (CYC), is looking to appoint numerous activity and equipment specialists for roles, based throughout southeast Queensland and northern NSW.

CYC is a faith based outdoor education and group accommodation organisation with a head office on the Gold Coast.  We facilitate programs in southeast Queensland and northern Sew South Wales all year round.

In this role, you would work to support our expedition and offsite outdoor education programs, planning and facilitating programs based around our Thrive way of working.  CYC uses a range of specific activities to help achieve these outcomes, such as surfing, raft building, stand up paddle boarding, mountain biking, archery, climbing, abseiling, canoeing and many more.  Qualifications and experience in any or all of these activities will be necessary.

Our activity & equipment team will be responsible for supporting all offsite programs located.  Programs vary from expedition to base camp programs, depending on the school’s camping outline. Many of these camps will require staff to stay onsite for the duration of the school’s program.

The activity & equipment team’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Activity facilitation
  • Manage and maintain outdoor equipment
  • Offsite food ordering/packing and preparing
  • Program logistics

  • Facilitate programs using a relational approach.
  • Are dedicated to the student’s holistic development
  • Have a secure foundation in Christ

To be eligible for this position, you should;

  • Hold qualifications in outdoor education/recreation/leadership, or education and or specific skill sets such as surfing or mountain biking
  • Hold a current blue card or be able to obtain a current blue card
  • Hold an MR license or higher (or be prepared to attain one)
  • Be able to demonstrate knowledge of pedagogy and be able to adapt and apply this to a range of ages.
  • Be suitably experienced in delivering outdoor education programs
  • Be comfortable working away from home when required
  • Demonstrate an ability to apply Biblical principles to all areas of life
  • Have exceptional communication and teamwork skills
  • Be capable of building strong relationships with students, staff, and colleagues.
  • Implement programs that are suitable for a range of ages and abilities
  • Be comfortable leading a small team through the framework of servant leadership
